As a team manager, the scenario of the organization at the moment is on self assessment. The team management level of the organization has decided to embark of a process of self assessment in order to improve the effectiveness of the group and improve its performance. To achieve this, I think it is important for the management to seek feedback from the group as well as from the rest of the employees to find out the strengths and weaknesses of both the group and the rest of the employees. I also feel that the team need to improve its current performance and this can only be attained if the feedback attained from the assessment team is used in identification of gaps between the current state of the organization as well as the future desired state. Other employees in the organization can be of great benefit in carrying out the assessment and proposed improvement actions (Rousseau, 2008).
Additionally, the employees can be involved in personality assessment within the team member so that they can have a better understanding of their working styles and use other team members as role models. Through this, no problems or hurt feelings are likely to occur in the group. Bruce Tuchman is a model that describes stages of group development, according to him there are five stages of group development which include: forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning. My group is at the stage of performing which is the fourth stage. This is because even though it has problems, it is characterized by state of flexibility and interdependence. Also every group member trusts each other and works as a team. The roles and responsibilities also changes for the betterment of the group (Diamond & Diamond Harriet, 2007).
